Experience the power and spirit of Japanese taiko drumming with Ryo Shiobara, Odaiko Solo Champion and internationally acclaimed taiko performer, visiting from Japan for this special workshop in Stockholm. Suitable for beginners, both sessions focus on Basic level fundamentals, with different content in the morning and afternoon. You can join either one or both — and get a discount when booking both sessions.
Learn the core techniques of taiko drumming and build up to playing the energetic rhythm of Sōran Bushi, one of Japan’s most iconic folk songs.
What’s Sōran Bushi?
Sōran Bushi is a traditional Japanese sea shanty originating from the fishermen of Hokkaido. It is often performed with dynamic choreography that mimics ocean waves, hauling nets, and the energy of life at sea. The rhythm is uplifting, powerful, and deeply connected to the spirit of the Japanese people.
