Roots & rituals: Latin American Witchcraft and Herbal Magic for the Urban Witch

Smell the powerful ingredients revered for their healing and spiritual properties for centuries. This is more than just a workshop – it's a journey into the heart of a living tradition. Together we explore the rich traditions of Latin American witchcraft, rituals and herbal medicine. We create tinctures, incenses and rituals that are tailored to meet physical, psychological and spiritual needs. During our journey of discovery, we get to see how ancient customs that have been passed down for generations can be used in contemporary contexts. Let your senses guide you through an encounter with the enchanting magic of Latin American roots and rituals!

The art experiences are led by artist Yanina Casanova, who invites a witch sister artist on each occasion. Together, they have explored various themes within Latin American witchcraft through art and designed unique experiences that are enhanced by museum educator Karin Wästfelt's mythological and historical expertise.

The program will be in both Swedish and English.

The workshop part is about 60 minutes of the program.

November 22: Roots and Rituals - Mexico and the Amazon with Yanina Casanova & Berenice Hendández

In the darkest time of the year, the veil between worlds is thin, tricksters lurk in the shadows and the jaguar brings messages from the foremothers and ancestors.

Yanina Casanova (Sweden, Bolivia) works with different printing techniques, mural painting, hair art and photography. Casanova holds a Master of Art Pedagogy from Konstfack.

Berenice Hernández (Mexico) works with sculpture, video, photography and performance. Hernández started her ceramic training in Mexico City, went on to study ceramics at the Oslo National Academy of Arts, and holds a Master of Fine Arts from Konstfack.

You can also participate on December 6: Roots & rituals - Latin American Witchcraft and Herbal Magic for the Urban Witch with Yanina Casanoa and Alicia López
